In these days and times unfortunately, it do sell. Take some songs. It can be crappy and if the video have half naked women in it doing lewd things, the song goes straight up the charts. I am sadden by the fact because there are very talented artists and actors that are decent and don't get the props they deserve because they are not sleazy.

Its called one of the oldest professions for a reason, Its due to the fact that everyone has a need and a need that needs to be met in some form or another. Yes by any means sex does sell...So its not just by pervs.... Most women that get into this line of work will do it because they do not have anything to sell other then their self.

what would most 18 year old males like to see on the front cover of an album? The singer in a bikini soaping up a car? Or that singer fully clothed sitting on a stool?

Without a doubt, "sex sells" on many levels (prostitution, comedy, advertising, et cetera)
The idea of "sex sells" has been around as an attractive woman/man has been around.
