Well ultimately it is a family decision. Wives, children, grandchildren of coaches etc are effected by their absence. moods and the commitment required by them to do this job well. Not everyone puts their families last. Many fans on here say that family should not be the first concern or priority when it comes to football. Sorry but I am one to think family always comes first and if he has decided that they are now is priority, we must respect his decision.
A lot of hard work, pressure and responsibility rests on their shoulders. I can only imagine how stressful it must be. He did a fantastic job with the German team and contributed into turning young promising players into household names. Maybe he will reconsider after a break from it all but if he doesn't he should have no regrets. He lead Germany to third place in the WC, and that is an achievement many of us will never attain. Well done to him.

What I hear is a few idiot racists who know a lot about nothing. Let me tell you something. Americans love the Germans. Sure, you can find a few racists wherever you go. But for the most part, Americans and Germans think very much alike. As an American in Germany for 6 years, I also ran into some German racists. But I can tell you that I love the German people and I think they also love Americans. Jurgen Klinsmann would be the PERFECT coach for the U.S. National Soccer Team because he could be the one to bring our team to the next level. The U.S. team has been floundering in mediocrity forever and we need someone like Klinsmann to teach our team the skills and style of play we need to make significant improvement on the world level. German teams have consistently done well in the World Cup. We can learn from their example. I think we need to offer the job to Klinsmann and give him a free hand in all decisions relating to our national team to make our team better. We have an opportunity to improve staring us in the face. I hope we can seize that opportunity by selecting Klinsmann as our next coach. I'm confident we would show significant improvement. The time for change is NOW !! Jurgen gets my vote !!

I was suprised but at the same time understood his decision. Family always comes first...and we saw that before the WC started. His family was there for him when his country turned against him. I thought he might continue his coaching but it turns out that he was too tired. I think he'll always support his team no matter what but he needed a break. I also think if he wants to return...he can get the assistant coach job for Germany or even be the head coach(it may happen! Lol). He really was great with the team and should be recognized for his outstanding work on the German team. He was great.

nope. why would anybody be surprised. It's not that his family doesn't want to him to leave California, he is just simply tired of all the media and DFB's pressure they put on him. When he was a superstar in Germany decades ago, he was low-profiler. He's a person that rather have a good and simple life.

No, he got a lot of crap in the German press before the World Cup for him not coming to Germany enough. It would start up again the first time the team would sputter. It was a smart choice.
