Do the newspaper companies buy the newspaper machines or do they rent them?

I am trying to figure out if the newspaper vending machines are sold to the newspaper companies or if they are sold to the retail stores, airports, and colleges seperately. This is for a mock business plan...any other information will be great!

They are sold per unit and maintained by the company, although this depends on the company, newspaper company and location.
