It is far easier to find information on antique furniture than it is to find information on "vintage" furniture. I would take the piece to a vintage furniture consignment shop and have them give you an opinion as to its' value. They usually know a great deal about furniture from this time period, and a knowledgable shop owner will usually be glad to offer information and advice.
