Depends what ages she's babysitting. For babies (under two), I think 15-16 is appropriate. For 5-10 year old's, I think a 12-13 year old is good.

i replaced right into a mom's helper at 11. Ten is in basic terms too youthful even for a mom's helper. i did not commence babysitting on my own till twelve. And that replaced into till no later than 8pm. Fourteen/Fifteen is the age to be a babysitter till previous due hours. in case you somewhat favor to have a 10 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous watch your newborn, have a twelve 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous or older there too. The a even as will experience. My suggestion is to not enable a 10 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous to be on my own in a house which includes your newborn the position something ought to bypass incorrect. Ten is a lot too youthful. imagine of it this kind, if something takes position, is the ten 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous prepared to call 9-one million-one million and by no skill freeze up? i recognize there is the monitoring project the position they can come back around the position of the decision, yet in the experience that they can't call 9-one million-one million and tell them precisely what got here about, and all that, they're not waiting. also, a sturdy project, get someone who's older who can manage first help.

I started babysitting when I was 12-13 years of age but I also baysit in my neighborhood where I was close to my parent's house. As I got older my destinations of where I baysit drifter further away from home because I was more of a responsible person. I knew what I was doing because I of all the practice. I ended up being a full-time nanny when I hit my 20's. But I would encourage your daughter to maybe try out an hour of babysitting in your neighborhood before doing it for long period of time especially when it comes to kids who may have medical/health issues. Your daughter needs to understand the concept of safety - child abuse, stranger at the door or the strange phone calls at the home she may be babysitting at - not completely focusing on the job and what can go wrong with that. (I have had nurmerous weird incidents) Just have her be really careful and have her get to know the parents before accepting a babysitting job (parents can be just as scary as the challenges of babysitting). She needs to knows that if something goes wrong her parents will be there to help her out. I hope this helps you.

I was about 12 years old the first time I babysat. I really think it has to do with the maturity of the babysitter, the age of the child she's sitting for, the time of day. There are too many things to consider. Would I want her watching a newborn? No - not at 9 1/2. She may be mature but she's not THAT mature yet.

Possibly as young as 12 or 13 if you know they are responsible enough to handle it, other then that I wouldn't go under the age of 14 or older because really it should be when her parents know she is ready to handle it.

Before she goes into babysitting if might be a good idea to find a CPR/First Aid class for kids, I have heard of some that are for kids who wish to start babysitting and teaches them important skills.

I started babysitting for short periods of time (no more than 3 hours at a time) when I was 12. I'm 19 now, and my sister is 15, and we both babysit full time for our summer jobs. Tell your daughter that ready to babysit once she's ready to change diapers, give baths, and clean up puke, and has taken the Red Cross babysitter's course and gotten her certification.

Some children mature faster than others. I was 13 years old when I started, but my mom made sure I attended a babysitting course first. It was 6 weeks long.

Look into your state or provincial law regarding the age
a child can be when they are left alone which includes the
babysitters age.
The rest is at the discretion of the parent. The length of time
and the skills required of the caregiver may require an older person. Also experience level makes a big difference. Some
9 year olds are pros at changing diapers due to siblings.
