Try either the boot floppy or boot CD from this site:

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/...

It will let you reset the password of any valid account. Also note that the only way to log on as administrator with XP Home is in safe mode.

If you want a completely safe way (ie without writing anything to your hard drive) try this site:

http://www.loginrecovery.com/

It's another boot disk that reads some info from your computer which you then send to this site to be decrypted. The free service can take up to 2 days before they send you your password(s) though.

I know neither solution does exactly what you want, both require booting the system but it's booting the system from the boot disk you make so you won't ever boot into Windows on that computer.

No. Not without booting the OS. The question is how do you get
the system to let you in, if you only have one user account that
is Administrator "password protected"? Did you lock yourself out? I would try to get in using another computer with a direct cable connection and setting up a point to point local network.
Your Windows CD will set up another user account on the PC
you can't get into. Once you do that, you can log in under this
new account and retrieve your password using MMC. To see
how, get the QUE book "USING Microsoft Windows XP Bestseller Edition.

you can boot using Knoppix and try to crack from linux shell. winternals ERD has a password removal tool as well. Aside from that, there are other ways, but i cannot really discuss how ;)

oh and angel_leea96, the method you are speaking is for a BIOS POST password, not Windows Administrator password, which cannot be removed in the mothod you speak, as this password is stored on the HD, not the CMOS. just an FYI

Yes there. What you will have to do is unplug your pc and then take out the computer battery which is like a watch battery or looks like one of those round flat pills. you take that out for a few hours put it back in then plug your computer back in it will by pass the password and let you right in.
