I just noticed a slow down on my computer. I checked it for bugs and crap and couldn't find anything else significant. Might just be a windows glitch, I was running MSN instant messenger.

Normally, these two DLLs don't change their size (and consequently updated), unless you change or a program change it. If happened that these two DLLs you mentioned DID change daily, yes i think there's something wrong.

One reason why a system slows down is because you install then, delete, install then delete programs. In meantime, your registry added lots of entry that when you uninstalled programs they left traced on registry and on \Program Files directory.

(1) Consider a program like REGISTRY MECHANIC, which CLEANs UP your system.
(2) Check which programs you ALLOW on your Windows Firewall. Consider also a program like ANTIVIR, see if you have virus intruded on your system.
(3) If it still really SLOW, then (for me and my ultimate solution), I will format and re-install all my programs...

There is a service called Protected Storage, make sure that is running. It replaces critical OS files if they get changes. If you find the file size of user32.dll or shell32.dll changes during the day without patching your system, then you have a mean virus.

ALT+CTRL+DEL check your system processes, a good running computer should only have about mid 30. If you are running alot more then that, you probably have some malware in your system. EVERYONE gets infected, but maintanence is the key. try ewido.com don't focus much on *.*dll's

Computer Slow

Download and then run startup.exe at:

http://www.mlin.net/startupcpl.shtml......

Can't live without it and windows...

Then disable and/or uninstall whatever u don't need.

Other things to try:

1 - Disk Cleanup (removal of temp files, cookies, etc.)
2 - Defrag
3 - Registry Cleanup (CAN BE VERY RISKY!)

What do you mean "usually change"?? Is that they change their names, or they change their size, or they change their CPU consuming??
