I would called them "mixed race" or biracial. Other current terms, according to census data are multiracial, and "some other race".

For the first answerer, the word is "mulatto." The only phrase that I ever use, and that is only when I am forced to, is to refer to someone as a "person of color." Which means you can be from any part of the world or any culture or any planet for that matter. People are people. There are very few people who are 100% black, white, yellow, or green. If you could do a genetic search of your own background, I bet you would be surprised about all your ancestors. There was a show on PBS where a scientist did genetic background checks. Some of the people who thought they were "Black" were actually more "White." Everybody on this planet eats, sleeps, cries, bleeds, and likes disco. Why do you even need to put a label on a person? We're all on this planet together. I am a white man (I do not tan very well) who, during the 60's and 70's was "Black." But later I decided I wanted to be Italian, then Chinese, then Hispanic...and now I just decided to be me. Anyway, you ought to watch some of the reruns of THE JEFFERSONS and watch George and Louise and Tom and Helen Willis argue about race. One of the funniest episodes was when George's mother started dating a white guy and George didn't approve. Anyway, I don't know if I answered your question. I guess just worry if the person is happy and healthy. Oh yeah. Back in the 60's I wanted to get a deep, dark suntan. There was a product then called Q-T (Quick Tan). The directions said if you put it all over you, then overnight you will get a beautiful tan. Well, before I went to bed, I slopped it all over me. The next morning I woke up and I was ORANGE, but only on my knees, elbows, belly button, ankles. and some other unmentionable places. I didn't look like I even belonged to the human race. I don't know if that has anything to do with the subject, but I thought it was funny. Have a good night and listen to more disco. Disco will make you forget about your question.

The mixed children in my extended family are called mixed unless they indicate otherwise. Hines 57 is another. It's difficult when the child has black features and bone white skin.

according to a number of experts in the field, all races come from one ancestrial stock traced back to Africa...Moses wife was black...'Nazarine' strongly suggests black roots...early scientists in the early United States identified temple remains as those belonging to the ten lost tribes of Israel...among the earliest race remains in the Americas found in the Vera Cruz area of Mexico (dating centuries before the arrival of the European) belonged to the black race...

I would call the condition of being black and/or white centuries of 'normal' geographical genetic adaptation...

I hope this information is helpful...knowledge is power...ignorance is not always blissful...

I believe the politically correct term is "Biracial" If this is not on a form, I think most people check the blank of the race they identify with most, perhaps. My cousin's mom is white and her Dad is hispanic...since she has a Spanish surname, she marks "hispanic" on forms.
