Trees that fall in the woods make just as much sound as trees that are cut down and allowed to fall. Probably no one cares about the sound unless they are also in the woods.

Yes, a falling tree will make a sound and yes, anyone/thing around the falling tree will care that the tree may harm them. I care if a tree falls because of someone with an axe or saw caused it to fall -- one less tree to help clean the air.

1)No, soundwaves are not identical to perceived sound.
Really there's no room to say "yes it makes a sound"
Since sound is purely perceptual.

2)idc about the particular case, but it's a problem for what we call reality if all that exists is what we experience directly. It leads to solipcism. Which isn't good. I can say the holocaust didn't happen because I didn't see it.

If it does make a sound it may disturb the surrounding wild life and their habitat, that is if the tree really fell at all? It would remain to be seen as well as heard.

and to those who don't.... you will when you need the tree... and you need the tree for oxgen and shade.
The world is over heating and our oxgen is being polluted...
Trees, forest, oxygen help to filter the pullution, bring the rains keep the earth cool.... care for one tree care for all trees.
We can farm trees and leave the forests to do what they do... breath life onto our planet.
I love the different personalities and each answer brings a smile... however seriously.... it is important to CARE. bottom line... care about life it is a privilege. And care about what helps you to sustain life on this planet.
