According to an international treaty known as the Agreement Governing the Activities of States on the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies, nobody may own the moon. Of course, nobody who can get there ever signed the treaty.

There are companies who will let you "buy" a star or land on the moon, and they mark down in some registry that you "own" that piece of property. However, you can't get there, and your claim carries no weight whatsoever with anyone who can. They're just selling you a listing in a catalog.

You really suggested "the moon" and by no skill "a moon". "The moon" till otherwise distinct is the Earth's moon. "A moon" may be any organic satellite tv for pc of any planet. We do have synthetic satellites about the Earth's moon. The Apolo astronauts resided in them at one aspect. Our moon would not have its own organic satellite tv for pc. even if this does not avert a diverse moon from having one. No properly-known moon interior the image voltaic equipment has its own natual satellite tv for pc. the nearest any moon is to having one is that Saturn's moon Rhea has a ring equipment of its own, and ring platforms are considered failed satellite tv for pc accretion discs which formed interior the Roche reduce, too close to to the established body. ought to there ever exist a moon with its own natual satellite tv for pc, that organic satellite tv for pc of that moon may be observed as a shepherd moon, as our nomenclature is determined-up.

....God? And totally out there, but it does say in the Bible that God has already created names for the stars, and that he knows each one by name. Trust me, this I know, for my parents tell me so. So really, even if you do name a star, it isn't actually that star's name, so....yeeeeah. :D
