Can somebody guide me to some site where I can get some really "cool" pictures of distant space (original or not but) somewhat awe inspiring?

Try "Sky and Telescope" magazine, in Massachusetts. I don't know their web address but I'm sure google would give it to you.

My personal favorite is the Hubble Ultra Deep Field.

amazing to think that the pillars are light years in length and the gases actually form stars
