First off, who says the man is cheating with another woman? Sometimes -- you never know! And I'm _not_ being sarcastic... trust me... anyway, you asked for the number one clue and given my experience, the number one clue is distance. He distances himself from your questions (regular, everyday talk) because he's too preoccupied with how he should handle himself when he's around you. He's afraid he's going to slip. And he "distances himself closer" to you physically -- more than normal -- to try and cover or make-up for what he's doing.

Dressing different for no apparent reason, suddenly wearing cologne when he didn't before. Staying out late on a lot more occasions, If he starts going on business trips when he didn't before. Won't let you look at his e-mail or at his cell phone. Starts to become secretive these are just a few that came to mind.

Your instincts, somehow you know when something is not right, change of habits is good indicator but the not wanting sex when you want it is not a good one some men get off harder and want sex more when having a affair. Gives them a thrill knowing that he just had her a few hours ago and now he is doing you. His sex style will change.

He hangs up the phone real quick when u walk in. Never where he says he'll be. Wants to party with his friends all the time without you. Things like that.
