Low intellect is ones ticket to happiness, but you'd have to have high intellect to understand that.

I've been around some pretty smart Cats who were so vastly smarter than myself that I couldn't comprehend what they were on about. It didn't bother me a bit. They were friendly and all seemed to share a kindly sense of humour. We're all in this together, smart or not so smart alike. I would think that perhaps some have a gift of intelligence, others are gifted in their own right. Now if someone uses the gift of being intelligent to degrade or ridicule the less fortunate that I do take issue with. There is no need for that behavior, particularly when the offenders truly should know better. Thank you for this chance to share my opinion.

Intelligence has become such a generic word anymore. There are many facets to intelligence. My autistic son has scored in the genius level , yet cannot tell me where he hurts. Have you ever noticed the stereotypical genius coined at being a nerd, or rather someone who cannot understand the social aspects of life? There are 12 categories of intelligence and to hit them all is pretty impressive.
Epistemic intelligence (from 'epistemology')
Analytical intelligence
Creative intelligence
Facilitating intelligence
Verbal Intelligence
Numeric Intelligence
Spatial Intelligence

Where someone may excel, more likely they are deficient in another. So for your question to be truly valid do you mean social intelligence or Epistemic intelligence which entails more cognitive problem solving? Some people feel that if one has an immense ability for memorizing data that they are superior.
If one is to say or assume they are of higher intelligence over another needs to step back and humble themselves. I give more respect to those that have an open mind and are always willing to learn more.

There is a theory that a 20 point difference in IQ makes it very difficult to relate and communicate. It IS easiER for one of 140 iq to talk to one of 100 than the other way around, but it's not easy.

I suggest that for someone with a below average IQ it is so foreign to be intelligent that they cannot miss it, anymore than one born blind can miss blue.

You ask like you consider yourself intelligent.

Remember that intelligence is a term we use for certain skills we can measure. There is an infinite number of ways we can apply our brain power, and few of them are measurable.

Look at the geniuses who can't fit into society - what you gain in one area, you lose in another. People who communicate well may not be so good at maths, for example.

I'd be reluctant to consider myself able to judge where I am relative to others. To do so would seem to require a very high opinion of myself.

Nobody considers themselves to be of less than average intelligence. Not even you, apparently.
