I like them. I think your nation is in it's adolescent stage, which makes it a bit unstable, but underneath I think you're fine.

I would say from my experience that most Americans have a somewhat skewed perspective of the UK. It would not be fair to pigeonhole everyone on that basis though, as most Brits have not been to the US in the same way that most Americans have not been to the UK (although proportionately more Brits have been to the UK).
My opinion of the Americans from all the time I have spend here is that they are generally good people who have a tendency to be quite paranoid when it comes to foreign affairs and are not adverse to making fun of certain countries. These tend to be mainly Canada, Mexico, Britain and France (plus a few other European countries).
In general I find the Americans very pleasantly welcoming and I always look forward to my trips to the USA.

Depends on where they are from! Londoners are very different from scousers, from Liverpool, for example.

Personally I like them but sometimes find them a little ignorant. Was in Florida and a lady asked me where I was from and I said London, England to which she asked if I was referring to New England.

Other things is how Americans seem to be quite obsessed with the bastardisation of the English language. By that I mean that they like to use as many acronyms and shorten sentences as much as possible.

Only other thing I notice is how America Football, which must be about 95% played using the hands, is called FOOTball and yet football is actually called soccer... so strange!

As an American, I can understand why we would not be liked by some English folk. One bad apple spoils the bunch, is true. Our roots are in the UK . I respect this fact more than you know. But
we have so many fools in the US who take advantage of our freedom . And so many fools who are disrespect other nations and their people. I am anxious to read what English folks DO think of Americans, too.

Its a huge country so you're all different. One thing I have noticed from many visits is that the news never mentions any other country so Americans think that nothing goes on in the world... I live in Scotland and so many Americans visit here looking for their history so I think that Americans have a bit of a problem being a new country... Good and band in all nationalities though...

Personally, I cannot generalise for an entire nation.

However, I will make an observation. Many European nations, whether one things of Greece, Italy or the UK have learnt a lesson that the USA doesn't appear to have learnt - that empires both rise AND fall.

Perhaps China has something to teach America?

As a nation: Brash, arrogant, over opinionated, over confident, you think yourselves to be self appointed world police, 'leaders of the free world'! Ha! Bunch of controlling god botherers. An incompetant over funded armed service that think they are the best but are ultimately crap except at friendly fire! They think they won WW2 for us, when really they sat back in full knowledge of the Holocaust occurring, and watched Britain stand up to the Nazis and their atrocities for years.

As individuals, the few I've socialised with have been ok.

I prefer the Canadians!

Too bad Blair is that idiot Bush's poodle!

I think the same about Americans as I do about all nations: there is good and bad in eveyone. Iam the type of person who will like a person and trust them until they give me reason not to

smart brits
want to come here to work and make money
there is some envy involved
we did kick their butt in 76

Since they have been around longer they tend to
act rather condescending but that's OK

they have been our ally and will continue in that roll
we pulled their *** out of the fire in WW11
and they continue to support our endeavors as well

Unfortunately for America we put less value on Education
then the brits.
and it shows

I think of you as being much more confident and open than us, which often makes you more approachable and friendly than us, which I like. I think your extra confidence also makes you more sure of your rights, which can make you over complain (a bit scary) or sue more than us. I think you seem like great people in general.
Also, I think you talk about your problems a bit too much, councelling is overused, sometimes you should just get on with stuff.
