OK i had this question running through my head the minute that I left the movie theatre. First of all, the wolverine character was pretty popular in the movies amongst comic fans and non comic fans alike. So before I released X-men 4, I would release a movie devoted almost solely to wolverine. I would make sure to have it minimally related to the plot of x-men 4, so that way it ties in rather nicely. This also makes people wait almost 2 years for X-Men four, but gives them what they want in the meantime.

The story of the Dark Phoenix really nixed a lot of possibilities in X-Men 3. If you haven't seen the movie don;t read any further.

But she seemingly killed Cyclops and Professor X. However, if you stuck around after the credit, you saw that X lived (even though it looked like he was destroyed). If this was the case for the Professor, who's to say that it wasn't also the case for Cyclops. Unlike the Professor, we never even saw what happened to Cyclops. We merely assumed that he died. Seeing as Jean Grey as Dark Phoenix was almost all powerful, it's possible that the teleported the Professor and Cyclops away from her. Maybe a remnant of her kinder side sent them away so that they would not be in any danger when she unleashed havoc on everyone?? A similar situation could hold true for herself. Sure Logan killed her. But I mean- she was Godlike. So why not resurrect her as well?

We sort of lost one other mutant. Rouge. But did we really? Magneto seemed to be regaining his powers in the end. Why not Rouge? And when she gets them back, why not make them weaker so that Rouge finally has control over them. I would definitely make sure Rouge was able to fly in the next movie. I mean, after seeing the flying CGI in Superman Returns, i think they could pull it off.

As far as plot goes- i could make something up that's sort of sketchy. Ummm- The Wolverine movie ends with Wolverine in grave danger. You see his story, it sort of jumps around chronologically (like the comic book did), and in the end you come to him visiting Jean Grey's grave. You see a bright light behind him and hear her choice say something like "i can help you, as you helped me" and it's sort of like a cliff hanger ending leading up to X-Men 4.

X-men 4 will sort of be a double plot line. One, Jean Grey is back, still the Phoenix but as the good Phoenix. She knows Scott and the professor are still alive, so she goes searching for them. They have been captured by an organization that wants to amass a mutant army for world domination. Striker, who survived the dam incident in x-men 3, is involved.

Meanwhile, Magneto has regained almost all of his powers. He has decided that instead of going after the human race or organizations like Striker's, he must abolish the X-men once and for all because they have crushed him at every turn. He has a feeling that the Professor is still alive, because the professor is unknowingly sending him dreams of the place that he is at (professor is in a semi-coma). Storm gets wind of this from a rouge mutant follower of magneto's who had decided to turn good. The traitor tells rouge of a small group of mutants that Magneto had amassed. Not an army, but 5 of the most powerful mutants alive.

Basically, Jean grey, upon finding the professor, also finds that these people keeping him have ways on inhibiting her psychic powers through electromagnetic fields. Although she knows the x-men may not trust her- she leaves the place and calls to storm telepathically. Storm decides to go because she can;t risk leaving the professor if he is in fact still alive. But where the x-men go, Magneto will follow. So it ends up being a showdown between the three groups. Magneto's mutants, the X-men, and the army of zombie mutants which now include professor x and cyclops (again).

they take out the zombie army when they discover that the only mutant strikers group really controls is the professor. they control him and he controls the rest.

they disable the professors powers with the electromagnetic weapon that strikers group kept on hand as a safety precaution, but it also disables jean grey. the x men must fight magnetos mutants (who are arguably more powerful) mostly alone. the no longer zombie mutants are too confused as to their whereabouts to help.

Wolverine is in on this battle and this time all out KILLS striker. no leaving him behind. But he still has unanswered questions that although the previous movie revealed, he doesn't;t know the answers yet. he believes striker to be the only one with them, but decides that it's not worth the lives of the ones he loves to keep him alive.

OK so how is the day finally saved? Well every x-men movie has a theme. I think the theme of my crappy written in five minutes movie would have to be that the ultimate power always ends up in the hands of the good. Wolverine has ultimate power of striker. Jean grey ands up having ultimate power over phoenix (and forces her to become good Phoenix), and in the end the professor has a little speech that goes something like this (to magneto)

"to you, this has never been a battle of good vs. evil, mutants vs. mutants, mutants vs. humans. admit it. it's never been anything but a battle between you and i. stop using your pawns to try and take me down. you'll never taste true victory anyway, unless you stand against me alone. what do you say Eric? can you defeat me on your own merit?"

and magneto agrees to the battle and you finally see the professor and magneto fight all alone. who wins? who do you think?

I would bring back a lot of the orignal charcaters, the ones who didn't get killed off: Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Bobby, and Kitty, and bring back Magneto and Mystique. I would have Storm and Wolverine have conflict about how to run the school now that the professor is dead and Rogue discovering that her medication is not working and her powers are coming back and she's caught between potential romance between Kitty and Bobby. And Magneto's discovered he has his powers returning but now that he has experience as an actual "human", he is rethinking his ways. We might have a flashback of him and the Professor talking about humans. And Mystique is adjusting nicely to being a full human and being accepted for once in her life. And the human world and the mutant world are closer together than they ever had before and all seems perfect. Almost. Then, an ancient mutant would awaken, the first all-powerful one seen in the comics and he wouldn't be happy and try to reek vengeance on all the world and destroy it. And Wolverine, back at the school, would have residual flashbacks about his old life and figures out what happened to him and the person he was before the experiment and he is plagued by his past decisions, including his decision to kill the love of his life, Jean Grey. And Storm would have a good backstory on how she got to the school and why she could run it. And as the all-powerful mutant rises to destroy the world and what little peace the mutants and humans have, it will take Magneto's and Wolverine and Storm's team and the entire human world to join together for the first time and save the world fro m entire destruction. Cool, no?

Story Line: Professor X's Evil sister (who is a floating conscience because her body died at birth) integrates with Juggernaut (because in the comics he is Professor X's 1/2 brother) and they wreak havoc and doom. In an alternate reality.

Characters: All of them!

Storm would have a baby with stonger powers and get kidnaped, brainwashed, grow up and try to fight the x-men.

I would love to see the Blob. He was always one of my favorite villians in the X-series.
