Double standards has such a negative connotation to it. But, to live by absolutes doesn't work, either. The world isn't an absolute place. It's varying shades of grey, as the saying goes.

Personally, I have my own sets of standards that I live by. Those standards have been chosen by me, as opposed to thrust on me by people who think they know best. Now, if my standards and the popular standards happen to align, that's cool. The difference is that I'm not afraid to abandon a set of rules if it should turn out they are flawed, for some reason.

Some might say that's living a double standard. I prefer to call it being fluid and adaptable.

Always open to suggestions, but have certain boundary's that every thing must fit into, I try not to change rules in the middle of any game. But in philosophy I love others opinions, "Thanks for the 10 point Answer"

Boundaries are very important, it let's others know what your expectations are and what makes you feel uncomfortable. I tend to think that bourdaries are flexible (at least mine are). It depends who I am dealing with at the time.

i think boundaries are made up from experience so of course we're renewing them each time we learn something new, but i think there are some in some people that are up for a reason, past hurts, protecting themselves, self confidence too!
