I love my computer too! (isn't it obvious)
Keep your own Anti-virus up to date, and check the status regularly. Yes, get AVG. Get rid of PANDA
Get and update several Anti-spyware solutions. I use AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destroy. I use the free versions from http://www.download.com Update and run these regularly. Especially IMMEDIATELY after an upexpected pop-up.
Download and install FireFox free from http://www.mozilla.com This is a browser that is safer to use than IE. Use this for general surfing and google searching. Only use IE when you MUST have IE, such as Windows Updates.
If you have Windows XP with SP2, activate the Windows firewall and check the status. If you don't, get Zone Alarm the free version from http://www.zonelabs.com
Take these steps to keep your computer ALIVE.

Try some of theses.

Get a well known and respected virus scanner like Norton or McAfee. I've never heard of Panda. Also, check for spyware.

To update a program, go to the homepage for it. as for popups, I shut down windows messenger and that took care of mine.
Panda is at this url: http://www.pandasecurity.com/cj-usa/
Go there and find the update/upgrade for your program and, when it's done, see if that makes any other difference.

to shut down windows messenger(not msn messenger), go to start, control panel, administrative tools, services shortcut. scroll through to the letter m and when you find messenger, right click on it, click on properties and disable it.....you should have no more pop ups on your desktop as was suggested, get AVG and spybot. the shut down issues and the gray box issue could very well be spy ware

you might have to have your computer wiped off completely. Same thing happened to me. Its because of viruse\s.
It cost $60 or something like that professionaly. If you have someone in your family that knows a lot about comps ask if they can do it for you. Thats what i do.
