I think that if someone can keep a clean safe environment for the cats and they are being fed and treated well then it is fine for anyone to take any kind of animal without a home and give it a good home.

I share my home with two cats, lots of fish, eight mice, two rats, and am getting a rabbit. However I live in a very large apartment (the rooms are more like that of a semi-detached house) and as most people know, fish, rats, and mice don't take up as much space or time as cats.
I think that, even though most of these "cat people" are trying to do the right thing, they are doing more harm than good. It isn't healthy for the person or the cats to live that crowded and, even if one cleaned the litter boxes often, it would end up being unsanitary.

Are you serious? I know you are exagerating. The facts are overcrowding stresses any animal. I have 8 cats in my house. They are healthy and happy, spayed/neutered and vaccinated. I have had an occassonal visitor[feline] and my cats misbehaved. There is a lot of work to keep house and animals clean and everyone phyically and mentally balanced.
If you are a wittness to a large number of animals being kept in an unhealthy and harmful enviourment it is your responsiblity to report it or help find new reponsible owners.

Most cities have a mandatory limit on how many pets someone can have. Does this person's landlord know? I can't imagine the smell. What do the neighbors have to say?

What do the cats eat, anyhow? That's kind of weird, and bad for the cats (who otherwise live as their wild relatives do). I used to own a hamster, but gave it away... :*-(

That's something that should be stopped! They can't possibly be taking good care of them! What are they feeding them? What about their shots and general health? Are they fighting, they have to be! Report them for goodness sakes!
