I used to bite my nails, to a point where my nails looked like sausages (no trace of nails), here is the solution. . . FAKE NAILS!
Glue on fake nails, thick fake nails you can buy at your local dollar shop, and keep these fake nails short, that way you won't bite the plastic nails. Even if you tried they will be so hard and gross you won't do it.
Good luck! :-)

Put some kind of food you really hate on your nails, don't do anything that will cause you to be nervous and try not to be bored, keep your hands away from your face at all times, keep a jar that you must put money into everytime you bite your nails.

I am 40 and still bite mine on occasion. I do carry clippers with me and if I get a hang nail or something I clip it off instead of biting.

Go to a Homeopathic Practitioner. Your nail-biting problem is most likely due to a silica difficiency.
I know, because my sister had the exact same problem, and the guy cured it.
Whatever you do, DON'T TAKE DRUGS FOR IT! It'll damage your liver more than it will solve your problem! (if it solves your problem at all)

While you're here on the net, google 'nailbiting', and look for microscopic images of the kinds of micro-organisms that wait for you in your filthy nails, and make enlarged color copies of them! Keep them in a folder in which you can easily bring them out to look at when you get the urge to bite! I assure you that you will never again have the problem!

hey i used to have that problem and they would be too short to manicure, and I'm kind of your age and what worked for me was to get a nasty tasting nail polish and paint them. and, to help, you can remind yourself of something that has to do with them, like, they go everywhere your hands do, or if you do, you wont be able to get a polish in a really awesome shade that's like limited edition or something. my mom bribes my little bro so he won't. he gets $10 if his nails on both hands haven't been chewed. one nail could blow it all. i hope you solve your problem and that this works for you! ill post back again or something if i find more solutions.

I used to do that also. If you're a female, I'd recommend always keeping them polished. Once you bite down a few times and taste that fingernail polish, you won't be doing much more of it.

There's a clear nailpolish type stuff you can get from many drugstores that you apply to your nails, and when you bite them it tastes like crap, its almost like eating nailpolish remover (yuck) ask a pharmacist what its called, they have it.
My mom used it on me when I was younger to stop me from doing it, and it worked..the stuff is horrible and leaves a bad after taste.
