I do! Jeez, the guy makes too many dumba** mistakes...which could cost the #24 team any shot at making the Chase!

And I don't think it's because Letarte is a rookie. The SOB needs to be sent packing!

I've never thought Letarte was very good. #24 has a bad habit of hiring from within, regardless of their background. I think Letarte started at Hendrick shining shoes, or something. Although Gordon has shown more consistency of late, I don't believe Letarte has a clue how to improve a race car (based upon their record and radio conversations).
I've never understood why the mighty Hendrick organization doesn't hire a PROVEN winner as crew chief. Just like a few years ago when the 88 raided the 24 and hired away most of their "over the wall" crew. Money talks.

I miss the good old days with Jeff Gordon and Ray Evernham, but I think Jeff and Steve can make it work. Gordon is a fantastic driver. He can tell you what's wrong with the car. Steve I think is a little slow to get what he is saying. For example if Jeff tells him that the car is really tight, Steve I think doesn't know how tight really tight is and the problem is over adjusted or under adjusted sometimes making the car worse. I say wait until next season. If they aren't solidly in the chase and not tied for 9th like they are now, then I would say that he needs to go. I think he will get into the chase this year and next year he will win his 5th championship.

I think we have to give Letarte a fair chance. Apparently, Jeff thinks they can become a team. I hope it doesn't cost him a chance at making the Chase, but it would be worth it over the long haul if they can really mesh for the future. I also think Jeff getting his personal life in order is helping.

I dunno about that. I think Jeff and Steve need to get on the same page. Even if Jeff took over the car that he own's, the 48, it wouldn't mean success just b/c Kanaus is a great crew chief, it's that the two would have to figure out each other.
They are finnaly showing some life as a team and spliting up that team would only set back Gordon. They have made alot of progress since last year, and next year they will continue to prove that.

Gordon fan btw.

Jeff is gaining momentum right now. Early in the season, many fans may have agreed with you. But as of late, they seem to be clicking and the #24 team is running good. In today's race, Jeff just got involved in somebody else's incident and didn't get the finish he deserved.

jeffy is doing better than he did last year, i say they are improving under letartes leadership and 1/2 a season isn't long enough to make that call.

NO WAY! Steve Latarte is a good crew chief. It just took some time for them to develop communication.
