Word.
I'm not into the whole celebrity worship culture.
My career goal is not to be a celebrity.
I'll be happy enough just to be a better person.

Maybe they idolise what they do and respect them and wish they could talk to them?
I don't get it though it's true what you say, I don't know why anyone would want a celebs email - especially the type of people that are called celebs...not naming names but PARIS HILTON - she's deffo one of them!
They wont reply because they have too much on- that's if they aren't known just for partying or sleeping around and even then they'd be too up their own butt to reply! If anyone did get a reply there's no guarantee it's them really so it'd be no happiness in it.
Celebs are just like us and I can't see why people get so star struck, yes they have a talent but their are people in the world who have extraordinary talents and still live normal among us. I believe celebrities are people who have just lost sight or reality! I don't know any that still live where they were growing up and if they don't I don't ever hear them visiting their neighbourhoods regularly!
But I reckon people who are totally obsessed really need help but they probably have some psychological problems that they need to have their "hit" of that celeb....it's hard to say what I mean ARRRRRRRGH to media who.re celebs AND people who are obsessed in celebs all together. AND the media lies...ALOT so I don't get it!
LOL your point is completely right, to break it down!

I completely understand your anger, and absolute confusion at people wanting their e-mail addresses. I think that mostly people, like the general public AREN'T obsessed with celebs, it's just that so many newspapers (tabloids), and magazines put celebs in there.
I don't care whether so-and-so got married, or so-and-so had three kids, or whatever. I. Don't. Care. Magazines like OK!, and Hello, are so stupid, because they are basically worshipping Z-List celebs, which I especially don't give a crap about, and you'll find those Z-list celebs think they are the bees-knees, and will treat anyone that isn't in the newspapers like dirt.

Good question D*...
It is sad when taken to obsession: but most people are obsessed with celebrity/celebrities as they crave the lifestyle/fame/money/notoriety etc that comes with this status for themselves: or wish/dream of being with that celebrity... i.e. I know many a woman who would kill for a 'Night' with Robbie Williams: let alone to have an e-mail address!!
And contrary to popular belief...some celebrities do reply to mail sent...but they are few and far between...and 99% of the time..not on the 'A' list...but it has been known..lol!!!

D i think you have just hit the nail on the head with this question , first of all people have to be following them everywhere they go they can't have a pimple or a bad day natural disaster cannot happen to them like for instant the wind blowing up there dresses or toilet paper stuck to their feet or selfish or conceited like some of us, i think you should just admire their movies love their song and like them not love them or be obsessed with them cause some of them are even more pathetic than us.

Yeah, I know. When I was in my teens, I used to be obsessed with celebrities, but at least they were singers, nothing like Paris Hilton. Now I'm in my mid-twenties and I don't even have a favourite actor or anything, I just don't care about them. I'm more into real people.

Because a celebrity's life seems so romantic and exciting. They are on TV or the movies and they speak to you through their characters and you idientify with them at some level so you feel compelled to want to know more. You feel like you know them on a personal level already. It's jsut one of those psychological things.

I totally agree. and most of them are only famous for some stupid reason. take Paris Hilton for example: what has she done that gives everyone a reason to love her? nothing!!!
