Most of the time you are entered into a "drawing" or "contest" that promises some sort of pay-off if you are a winner. For the most part, it is very hard to generate pay for completing surveys. I only know one person that is consistently getting about $75 per week but she pretty much spends 6 hours a day completing surveys and it took her about 3 years to get to this point.

In a way, yes. I signed up for them, but I wouldn't recommend them to ANYONE. They DO pay you, but the trick is, you need to register at over 10 different pay-you-for-survey sites (hence getting you signed up for TONS of spam mail) and then you only receive money if you reach a certain quota. A lot of the sites require that you achieve something like 1000-1500 points (with only getting 3 points per survey) before they give you some stupid amount of money like $2. It's not worth it at all, and if there IS a site out there that is legitimate and easy to use, I'd like to know about it! :)

Honestly, don't waste your time or money. You're much better off not getting caught in the spam.

No generally. Usually they are mailing list companies acquiring information about you that they sell for profit.

There's maybe 2 real survey companies on the net but the others have ruined their reputations and credibility.

many are... but the amount per survey is very low.

Many times an hour survey will yield 1 to 2 dollars.

No. What usually happens is your "pay" is a percentage off of something they want to sell you. And it's true you end up being deluged with spam.
