Not budget, but not too high end, either. Thanks.

I think I do understand your question; however, some basic questions come to mind(I am Owner of a Travel Agency):

1-Do you have a proposed checkin/checkout date in mind?
2-Is there a maximum per night rate you're willing to pay?
3-How many nights?
4-How important are amenities to you?

Minor issues for certain but important in that once resolved it simplifies searching for accomodations that meet your criteria. There are many fine accomodations centrally located in Venice(Italy I assume), but keep in mind that they are availability-based. If you could kindly either call, email me at: indysteve1563@yahoo.com, or reach me through Yahoo Messenger with what you have in mind, then we can see what accomodations are available that meet your timeline, budget, and criteria.

Try Hotel Helvetia. I stayed there last summer and its very resonable, and very beautiful. Ask for the front window room beacuse at night the people across the street, people sing in italian and seranade you all night. Oh by the way, this is on Lido Island, all you have to do is catch a ferry everytime you want to go from Venice to Lido, its about 15 minutes to get to Venice.
Enjoy bella italia!

There are a lot of good places in Venice. I have been there several times also. Since I have family in Italy and go there every year. I am probably a good person to talk to. If you want to post in details if its alright if I contact you and I will sned you an E-mail. I think a Hostel is really good if your going alone. You save a lot of money and meet the most interesting people. If you are going in the summer you might want to look at whatplaces have AC. AC is not a big thing in Italy but if you are use to it, you might want it.

I can recommend 2 hotels..
Hotel Paganelli- http://hotelpaganelli.com/
I've stayed at this hotel 2 and have no complaints its a 3 star hotel. its a few steps from San Marco square, the vapporetto (water bus) and the boat that comes from the Airport stops right there.

Hotel Bruno- is close to San Marcos also. My friend works there is a 4 star. www.hoteldabruno.com

Try the Sofitel. I stayed there and I could walk from the train station to the hotel and then from the hotel to all the major sites.

They're all central. Venice is not that big.
Travel agencies know.
