I think that it is a wonderful place to live. I will always live here. Some people that don't live here just think that we are incested and rednecks. Sure, there are ALOT of people who hunt, but not everyone does. I think hunting is 100% ok. I don't hunt, though, it makes me sick to my stomach. Most of the people who do hunt do it as a hobbie, not an life obsession. Well, let me know what you think and what you've heard about West Virginia. I live in the 2nd biggest city here, too!!!!!

I live in Pittsburgh so I've heard alot of WV jokes. Thats just a stereotype made up by morons who are trying to take focus off of their shortcomings. Pay no attention to these people here. Proves my point exactly. Go Steelers!!

I like West Virginia. It is wild and wonderful. We visited A while ago with my family. We loved the views. We visited the West Virginia State University Campus. Beautiful walking trails.
I have heard Red Neck jokes in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
I would like to go back to visit again sometime.

I have been to West Virginia. I don't think I could live there. It gets kinda cold in the winter and the summer well there is no ocean. I know some people like it but at the same time its not my style. Not much to do.... It's kinda like live in Northern Minnesota.

Please pay no attention to some of the wise cracks listed above about West Virginia. People are ignorant. For one thing, gangs??? Not even nearly as bad as the larger cities in the USA. I too live in WV. I have been fortunate to visit many states and trust me nothing compares to living here in the mountains of WV. Our winters are no colder than some places even in Florida. We have mild winters. By the way.........Yes, there may be poor people in our state......But I have seen many poorer people and states as well! Thinking that alot of people marry their family members is one of the most stereotyped stories known. Those people making those comments probably know NOT one thing about West Virginia! WE HAVE VERY EDUCATED PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE AND HAVE MORE MONEY THAN MOST PEOPLE WHO HAVE POSTED THOSE RUDE COMMENTS! By the way.....I am fortunate to be amongst those fellow West Virginians! It is a beautiful state and I am proud to be from "Almost Heaven West Virginia". Thanks to those of you who posted nice comments about our state!

I've heard hillbilly jokes and the place is usually interchangeable, it varies from Arkansas all the way to Alabama. We all know that it's just jokes. I haven't had the good fortune to visit your area. The closest I've been is North Carolina. It's all beautiful. Some of the smartest, coolest people I've ever met were "country folks" from little towns in Arkansas, TN, MS,AL, etc. So, don't let it bother you!

I used to live in East Tennessee and thought the hillbillies there were bad. That was until I drove through WV. Man i was scared for my life. There is just something in the air that can scare a man. Especially seeing Delivarence the night b4

There's a lot of people who think that the entire United States consists of just three sections: New York, Los Angeles, and Fly-Over Country.

I live in West Virginia also and yes by God it is beautiful, I live near East Lynn Lake and I wouldn't change my home for any other in the whole USA. My husband is a hunter, and it is a sport to him, but we also eat what we kill. LOL
I'm talking about turkeys, deers, and rabbits.

I love WV. I have lived here my entire life (26 years). I wouldn't change it for the world. Yes, there are hillbillies here, but the state isn't filled with them. And yes, we do have teeth, wear shoes, and we don't marry our family members. Most of us even have a college education. (I am currently working on a Masters).
