If you register at your local library they usually have on-line databases that you can search newspapers from all over the country. The one I use is Info Bank.com

Hello, if the person was just arrested pending trial, they most likely will not show up on web sites, you will need to contact the police department and/or sheriffs office that arrested them.

If they went to trial and was convicted ro plead out, if it is a misdemeaner and they are in county jail, it may also not be online. Some states have state inmates listed.

Here in Michigan we have the Michigan Department of Corrections site. Try it using the name of your state. Hope that helps.
