they overheat badly due to poor design.......the kneuder valve within the coolant recepter is too restrictive.
(1) remove the valve
(2) then with a file, remove some of the metal from the chamber
(3) leave out the valve and reassemble
should run real cool

I've never heard that Cadillacs overheat on a predictable basis. Now, if people "pimp" them and drive them as a bunch of pimps, then maybe it's not Cadillac's fault, or GM's fault, but the owner / drivers' faults. And I'm not a fan of GM, but they do put out some very good products, and Cadillac is looking very good on the world market compared to how it's looked in decades past, like the 1970's and 1980's. So check out what the owner / driver is doing, and not doing (like general and proper maintenance), and you might find your problem. Good luck. God Bless you.

That is a glaring generality. ALL Cadillacs do NOT overheat. Maybe you have an old car and there is something that needs to be fixed. OR you might have a newer version which also needs some fixing. What's wrong is wrong, NOT because it is a Cadillac!!

Chow!!

all you people who are saying they overheat because they are big?? do semi's overheat? do trains, boats, ships, planes? think people, think. i'm sorry your cadillac has cooling system problems, but please don't let that sour you on all american cars. factory defects exist in every make of car be it japanese, german, american, korean, anything. so my advice to you would be to get it fixed by a trained mechanic. and besides, if it's used who knows if the previous owners ran the wrong coolant through it?

a caddy is a heavy car, plus a lot of them have aluminum engine blocks, and i have personally known a lot of caddy's to have a lot of cooling system problems. My best suggestion is take it to a good mechanic, and find out what the problem is, it could be something as simple as a thermostat, or something else. But caddy's aren't cheap to work on

Hey Cadillacs are my fave trucks. No matter how they run. Though I will probably never own one. I think they are stylin when pimped. I love those trucks. The way they are built and just the way they look. Sorry
