Well, that depends on how you percieve your heritage. Unless you are from African decent, I would not consider you African. However, If you were raised and a citizen of Africa I would then consider you African. But, there are "white africans". i.e. Morroco has people of light complexions. And "white" really is just a label on the pigmentation in your skin...Many children are born in other countries, but not raised there and have no genealogical decent from there. Consider it this way. If a child was born in Mexico, but his parents were citizens of the U.S. and not of Mexican origin, and then taken back to the U.S. to be raised, the child would not be considered Mexican-American. But, if the family originated from Mexico and then moved to the U.S...Mexico is part of the child's heritage..So, then he/she could be labeled "Mexican-American."

It depends on whether you define yourself by your bloodline, your place of birth or your citizenship.
