I think it's quite possible. He had 2000 in college, but that's different from the NFL. Plus, more teams are aware of what he can do and will be designing defenses to stop him. It will require him to stay healthy and the offensive line to stay healthy in order to get those blocks out.
On a side note, it was great to see what he could accomplish over those final nine games of last season.

I don't think so. What you saw last year was a guy who had fresh legs, a complete offensive line, and an Al Saunders offense.

This season, LJ will be the starter from day one, which means he won't have Priest Holmes taking most of the carries for half the year. He is much more likely to wear down.

Also, he's lost one starting offensive lineman to retirement... plus he's got two others who are very close to retirement.

Also, he's lost his offensive coordinator, Al Saunders. This should not be overlooked. Saunders is a magician. I didn't see the Jets dominate in the running game except for one year. Saunders did it just about every year he was O.C.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to question Larry Johnson this year.

I think that if the Chief line can open the holes for him, he's got a fantastic chance to hit 2000 yards...he only needs what? 2200 to get the most yards ever? I forget the number...but he definately has a chance to do that. It's all about the line and the down field blocking...and the schedule. If the Chiefs play a lot of run stopping teams...he wouldn't have a chance. Put him against Dallas, Chicago, Carolina, and Tampa and he wont go very far...but put him against Atlanta, New Orleans, Green Bay, and Arizona and he would for sure....you have to put that sort of thing in the mix...he may have just been lucky to get bad run Ds last year...I haven't looked at the schedule really.

We will see....

Doubtful. Of course, a 16-game record is so different from the old 2,003-yd record OJ set in 14 games.

I don't think KC's O is primarily designed for the run unless Edwards is going to revamp the attack that Vermeil ran.

On what basis? It won't happen, big backs break down. All backs break down actually. The simple fact of the matter is that you can't say oh we will just double what he did last year to get this year's numbers. Well first off that doesn't work because he can't. He will get more worn out over 16 games.

I dont think that he will. Its just frankly too hard. The Chiefs have no receivers beyond Tony Gonzales and I think that losing Tony Richardson is a gigantic loss for their running game. Plus, he has to maintain his health. I think that he will have a nice year, but I dont think he's breaking the rushing record.

Uh...no way.
He won't even finish the season.
He'll hit the wall around week 13 or Herm will go to a committee with Dee Brown.

He is not a full season RB.

No...he is basically their only offensive weapon so defenses will key on him. And he is not the type of back who can make defenders miss, he'll be carrying 2-3 defenders on his back 15 times a game. You can't run for 2000 yards doing that.
