When ever you buy in a pack, the contents of the pack are usually strictly top or strictly bottom.

Here's a quicky for you.- real important

the bottom head is the resonant head
the top head is the batter head
(im going to use the brand REMO in my descriptions)

usually you want the bottom head to be thinner and less dense because you want it to resonate. thats basically what tone you get after you hit the drum. if the bottom head is too thick/dense, the sound you achieve will be dead. get it? usuallky a good head for this is like, REMO clear Ambassadors. they are a single ply/layer which is good.

the top head is the batter which you hit. this doesnt matter. some preople prefer thinner heads such as " Remo Clear/Coated Ambassadors. the white coat makes the sound warmer. Or if you like to hit your drums hard and not THAT anal on the tone, you can go with something like REMO Emporer or Pinstripe which are double ply/layer. A less virbrant sound.

If you're not like, in a rock band or somethingand you dont bang the living **** out of your drums, if you jsut play regularly.. i HIGHLY SUGGEST Aquarian Texture Coated Heads. They are a single ply with a coat so durable its like a tooth brush. never chips.

For the bottom head i sugest Remo Ambassadors to complent the Aquarians

Most store don't carry Aquarian. They usually mainly have Evan's and Remo's. so i'll giveyou a good list for remos.

TOP HEAD
Pinstripe-Clear
Ambassadors-Clear, Coated, Ebony
Emporers-Clear, Coated

BOTTOM HEAD
Ambassadors-Clear

If youre going to buy a pack just make sure the sizes are right because it'll usually be cheaper then buyin g them seperately.

I kind of dont want to load up on information on Yahoo Answers so i kinda described everything a little shady . Sorry. But if you have some specific questions you want to ask me, you can email me. Look at my profile. I've been playing drums for a LONG TIME and I have tried REMO'S, AQUARIANS, ATTACK, and a few EVANS

ALSO

NO BRAND OF HEADS IS BETTER THAN ANOTHER. It's like saying Mac is better than PC or PC is better than Mac. theres no such thing. its all preference. But usually, you would want to buy heads from a brand that specially makes heads. You wouldn't want to buy Pearl Drum heads. Not that they are bad. I have played on Pearl Drum heads and they are fine, but. they more specialize on drums. Heads for Pearl is kidn of like a side job..... .... i hope you get my point

Ahhh I'm not really sure cause my dad buys that stuff for me. I'm kind of clueless too, heheh. But I think Remo is better than Evans.

No, it only come for one head on top with a pack, and you can buy individual heads for the bottom.

Go with Remo, Evens is not that good.

Or Aquarian is also real good.
