no matter which way you view it, innocent people will die , surely we have the humanity to put pressure on our political leaders, who have the power to halt this insanity

It's none of our business. The middle east has been a hotspot for millenia.
It's not our government over there. It's their's.
Our troops shouldn't be over there in the first place. It should be obvious by now that we are not fighting against terrorism, anymore. Is anyone sure WHAT we are fighting for?
The United States should pull out our troops, and go home. The Middle East never has been, and probably never will be, peaceful, no matter WHAT we do.

Innocents does not protect those who permit terrorist to use their land to attack others. The Lebanese government was under pressure from Syria and did not do what it was ordered to do by the UN years ago. That failure and the failure of the UN to enforce the directives caused today's problems. The UN is a worthless organization that just sucks up money and stands idle while countries abuse each other.

Besides of doing an actual invasion ourselves, what can our leaders do to stop the violence? There have been many calls for the hostilities to stop however hezballah is still firing rockets into Israel and IDF is still shooting up structures in Lebanon and Gaza. Those people have been at each others throats for years. This is just the latest flare up.

I think I missed something. Explain exactly how you believe we are condoning the killing of innocent people in the middle east.
That much isn't clear from anything you said (or anything that's in the news).

The insanity is fighting what the coalition is trying to do to help the new elected government of Iraq. The peaceniks are doing nothing but aiding the terrorist so they feel they will just kill more people. Get behind the coalition and help them finish the job.

Somethings fishy...normally America doesn't take this stance. I guess it wants Israel to pave the way for it to attack Iran and Syria.
sad : ( anyone with the goal of a better humanity would condone such crimes. This is not the foreign policy America should present. I thought we were better than that.

This isn't exactly an answer, but I see where you're coming from. Everyday, we here about an *insurgent attack* guess what, if we had camoflaged men carrying machine guns here, we'd be doing the same thing, to protect whats ours. They have children just like we do, and its starting to look strange to me that we can capture everyone around Bin Laden, but we can't capture Bin Laden. The war in Iraq isn't going anywhere.
