Slight accident doesn't equal a blood stain of 2ft*3ft but anyways here you go ....
Types of Carpet Cleaners
The carpet cleaner industry presents a dizzying array of options. Here are some types of carpet cleaners.
* Dry Powder Cleaner: The dry powder is an absorbent material that resembles sawdust. The powder solvent absorbs oils. Different brands of dry powder cleaners have different directions for usage. Some products require you to let the powder sit for some time before vacuuming it up. As you vacuum, the powder and the dirt that was collected is removed. Since leftover powder attracts dirt, you are advised to vacuum thoroughly. This type of carpet cleaner is easy, has no drying time, and works well with carpets that are not too dirty.
* Spray Foam Cleaner: Spray foam carpet cleaners are worked into the carpet with a sponge or hand brush. You must either manually scrub the dirt out or use a machine similar to a buffer. Then, you must wait an hour or two for your carpet to dry before vacuuming the area. As is the case with dry powder cleaners, you must vacuum thoroughly or the residue will attract dirt. Spray foam cleaners work well with on-the-surface stains, but do not deep clean the carpet tuffs. Another disadvantage is that, if you are scrubbing manually, the process can be very labor intensive.
* Liquid Shampoo: Liquid shampoo cleaners are the oldest way to clean carpets. There are good reasons behind the longevity and popularity of liquid shampoo cleaners. Not only do they effectively clean moderately to heavily soiled carpet, they also revitalize the color of the carpet and fluff up carpet pile. The drawback of using liquid shampoo is that you must clean small areas at a time with a buffer, scrubbing two or three times over. Edges and corners must be cleaned by hand. After you do so, rinse thoroughly. Note that if you do not rinse well and the shampoo is left in the carpet, it will attract soil. After rinsing the carpet with water, let it dry before you vacuum.
* Steam Cleaner: For super clean carpet, it is recommended that you steam clean your carpet at least once every year. You can typically rent a steam cleaner from a grocery or hardware store. Popular carpet steam cleaners include Hoover SteamVac Plus Steam Cleaner, Bissell PowerSteamer Proheat Plus Carpet Cleaner, Dirt Devil Easy Steamer Carpet Extractor, and Eureka Atlantis Deluxe Steam Cleaner. The rental equipment usually comes with easy directions. Hot water and detergent is extracted through a wand. After the hot water is extracted, the wand immediately sucks up the water and the dirt. If the hose is clear, you should be able to see the dirtiness of the water. The steam cleaner is extremely effective at removing dirt deep in the carpet. However, this method has drawbacks -- it is time consuming and takes approximately eight hours for the carpet to dry.
Selecting a Carpet Cleaner
When determining which type of carpet cleaner to use, you should realistically assess how much carpet cleaning you plan to do and how much you can invest in it. Spray foam, liquid shampoo, and dry powder carpet cleaners are relatively easy to learn and inexpensive. The effects of these cleaners, however, fall significantly behind carpet steam cleaners. On the other hand, carpet steam cleaner requires substantial monetary and time investment.

Blood is very hard to get out of carpet. I'm thinking that by the time you spend lots of money on costly cleaning supplies, it might be cheaper to just replace the section that is stained.
As long as the stain wasn't caused by an assault or homicide, there are companies that specialize in cleaning up after crime scenes. You can look in your phone book or even contact the local precinct for a referral.

If it were me, I would call the FBI and ask if they have any stain remover you could use. Most of the time they do. Thanks for the 2 points on a stupid question.
