With our world still trying to get out of the artistic crysis that the world war II let down, how can we get the good or the best arts reach the people out there instead of the crap art that is currently marketed?

I shall start with this arbitraty concept of Art: It is a way of human expression that helps the brain to develop its emotional centers by analysing the relations in a system between the measurements of its components and finding a valid emotional message in it. The more acurate this message, the better the exercise and pleasure for the brain.

There you could decide what's good or not so good in arts. Lacking in message or not being clear about a message.

But this question doesn't aim to discuss whats good or not. If you agree that the best art is kept unknown for the mass, then answer.

Education is the key. I am a drama and art teacher and I make them listen to different styles of music, i show them indie and foreign movies that are appropriate for them, I take them to the Theater, Ballet, Art museums, concerts, libraries. They think it is fun and i am trying to educate the public of the future. Maybe some of them will be performers. Part of my classes is to teach them to appreciate the arts and to discern, identify and differentiate good commercial art and bad commercial art.

Make art relevant to people and their lives. Realize that art isn't just old paintings on canvas. It's disciplined creative expression that happens everywhere, all around. There always has, and always will be, a market for so-called serious art. But it never was and never will be interesting to most people, so don't lament that most people don't like it.

Also, the question assumes we're in an artistic crisis but I don't agree. Art has proliferated in many new forms. To the extent there is a crisis within mainstrteam elitist art, that is a factor of modernity and the consequent breakdown of the monolithic standards each society and culture used to have for what art is. That crisis affects everything, not just the art world.

Why should it bother you if for every Picasso there are ten blue dogs and fifteen paintings of whales flying throught the galaxy? Picasso still exists either way.

Bring the art to the people, not the people to the art -- put it in parks, buildings, restaurants, bars, airports, on the Internet, not just the museum. Let people eat food and drink and talk in front of the art, touch it, borrow it, interact with it, break it, make it themselves, get to know the artist in person.

Also, education, exposure, and familiarity. 90% of recognizing good art is being honest with your perceptions rather than having a trained eye. People can tell you in a second whether they like a dog or not based on what they feel in their heart. But show them a piece of art and they tell you what they think they're supposed to say, not what they see in front of them.

What.. is art supposed to be an Aesop Fable?

gtfo with this modernist moralising.

Art has only ever been made to satisfy the oppressive classes' appetites. What is it today? Corporate sculpture. Architecture. Stylyzed cars. Business attire. What's the value of art when it's always been the tragic tale of great Kings! Let's do art about commoners! For whooo? The Leisurely of course!

Donald Trump doesn't care about the Matrix. His life is a movie, he doesn't need populist agit-prop BS cartesian/christian slop flung into his happy world.

Art is made for us shithead people, to make us buy it, like the dumbass consumers we are--- Oooo such great significance! Look at the style and perfection! This photographer captures God!

fkn antiquarian masturbation.

It's all about patronage. The art that is bought will be the art that is created. For now, people seem to be happy with spending thousands of dollars on a paint splotch, so what're you going to do?

Appreciation of art must start at a young age and be encouraged by parents, educators and peers.
