Bridle. Although sometimes people keep the halter on with the bridle on top which isnt recommended because of it rubbing the horse.

should always ride using bridle - either with a bit, or bitless, and use halter for leading from the ground. Even the most placid mild manered horse can spook if something frightens them, if you have a halter and you are riding when it spooks it could be dangerous to try to pull up in a halter, dangerous to you, the horse and any other animal/people it comes across. Doesnt have to be a hard bit, but defo bridle.

The bridle is for riding, and halters are meant practically to keep control of the horse whenever you saddle him up, return or catch him in pasture. There are such things as combination bridles, which are a cross of the two (not recommended, as these are potentials for any untoward circumstances).

basicly halter to ride and halter to lead or tie. but to ride bareback you can use a bridle or a halter w/ lead connecting to both sides of the halter on a trusted horse. probably not a good idea on a horse that tends to bolt a lot when frightened.

Most people use a bridle. However,I have a horse that I ride in just a halter and 2 lead ropes. He was abused and will not have tolerate metal in his mouth.I also have a horse I ride with a bosal.Which is basically just a piece of rope that goes around their nose.My husband uses an Indian bridal. What that is is a piece of rope that goes over their tongue.
It all depends on how well your horse is trained.I prefer not to use bits as I think they damage a horses mouth.

ur supposed to use a bridle (reins, bit, headpiece). halters are meant for controlling the horse in hand on the ground. but you will see some people snap a lead rope to the halter and take off. or if you are like me, you for get any head equipment.

you use a bridle... in most cases. it is probably the safest but if you have a horse who is like broke to death, which i suppose since you didn't know the answer to this question you wouldnt be expierenced enough but you can ride a horse in a halter, if you are absolutely sure it wont run off.
