YOU SHOULDN"T. Keep them on hard copy off your computer. There are nasty people out there that have a gift of compromising this. Don't even keep them on a USB key or thumb drive... write it down, put it somewhere safe where you can remember where they are.

Get a Program from the Net such as McAfee Password Protect or Norton's System Work's to Store your Password.

Go to www.tucows.com or some site like that and search for "password protectors"

Password protect the file.

I never put sensitive material on the computer. Store it in a couple of disks.

There is no way to store it on the pc totally secure, best is paper in a safe.
The next best thing on a pc is to partition the drive, this way only one operating system at a time has acces, so leave one partition open to the internet and your stuff in the other.
You store it as hidden file deep in some C:\ directory thats very obscure and weird file name.
You could encrypt the text with a progam like
"http://www.rumint.org/" search for "otp"
