As others have mentioned, it seems impossible that in such a large universe, we would be the only planet with lifeforms. However, will we ever communicate with other lifeforms, let alone meet up with them face to face? I don't believe so. First of all, there's a question of space, but also time! We've only been on Earth for a pretty small fraction of the life of the universe, even of the life of habitable planets. Who knows, perhaps other civilizations, light years away, have already come and gone eons before we showed up.
The link below explains an interesting facet of this discussion, called the Drake Equation. It is an equation that determines the probabilty of the existence of alien lifeforms, taking into account all different variables (ie, how many stars how there, how many actually have planets, how many of those planets are habitable, etc. etc.) At the bottom of the link, you can set your own variables for the equation and see what kind of result you get.

I've never seen a UFO.
I think our species is very arrogant to think that we are the only intelligent life in the universe. In the grand scheme of the universe can we even think that humans would be considered an intelligent life form? We're barely out of the stoneages and still fighting over world resources and tribal gods.

You would have to be completely ignorant to NOT believe that aliens exist. There are billions of stars thoughout the universe that are as young as our own, and are in condition to harbor a solar system just like ours.
Again, for anyone to think that we are alone in this HUGE universe is not only uneducated, but close-minded, as well.

no, my opinion is that they are a hoax. If there really is a God, would you not believe that earth is the only unique planet in the universe and no other life truly exist execpt here. I highly doubt it that our scientist will ever find such things as Aliens. Sorry.

I Think people must be really small minded to think that we are the only life forms,,,,,,,When I was a kid, I was stood at the back door with my Dad when we both saw what looked like a shooting star,it was traveling virtically, then it stoped, Then went stright up, then dissapeared, this was in England (Bolton) 1982( I was 7)..

OK, If you think that you're the only major species in this entire picture, your completely wrong, Space is infinite, and who the hell knows what's out there... There has to be more than just earth with life forms, use your head
