Here are a few colleges you will definitely want to check out.

Some are private liberal arts colleges (which given your ACT score, you will not want to ignore, since you'll probably get scholarships), and some are "public ivies," meaning that they are superb public universities at which one can get an ivy-league level of education at a public university price.

Carleton College (MN)
Indiana University - Bloomington (IN)
Kenyon College (OH)
Macalester College (MN)
Miami University (OH)
Michigan State University
Northwestern University (IL)
Oberlin College (OH)
University of Chicago (IL)
University of Michigan
University of Wisconsin

If you can deal with a big school, then state universities often have the funding to have good programs in your area of interest. Since you want a public school, to keep the cost down, that fits in well.

University of Minnesota main campus (lots of students)
University of Minnesota - Duluth
University of Minnesota - Morris
University of Minnesota - Crookston
University of Minnesota - Rochester

University of Wisconsin - Madison, Eau Claire, Green Bay, Lacrosse, Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Parkville, Plattville, River Falls, Stevens Falls, Stout, Superior, Whitewater.

University of Michigan
University of Iowa
University of North Dakota

All are great schools.

My favorite is University of Minnesota - Morris. It is far away from the big city, and so the class sizes are small, like a liberal arts college, yet has the funding and resources of a major university. All credits acceppted and transferred without a problem to U of Mn main campus, or any other midwest school.

Okay, so it's now the middle of July and you're just now asking where you should go to college?
Let me get out my crystal ball........................... For the time being, I see you attending a community college near your home! You cannot just walk on to a college campus any time your little heart desires and get admitted!
