With age comes many things we're not used to seeing, or they're used to having! It could be water retention, OR...it could also be poor circulation, but worst would be her blood sugar acting up. My suggestion is to call her doctor in the morning, tell the nurse what's going on, and make an appointment. When our relatives get older, they need more attentive care...it's wonderful that you caught this, and for now, tonight, put her feet up on a pillow when she goes to bed, so they're elevated. Tomorrow, do as I suggested and she'll be just fine. Hope this helps, and hang in there!

She might be suffering from diabetis that will sometimes cause the feet and legs to swell. She should see a doctor if this persists. If it is really hot where you are you might try soaking her feet in a cool water with epsom salt bath. Good luck with granny.

Swollen feet can be an indication of many health issues, coupled with itching.... my suggestion is to get her to the doctor asap.
Yahoo answers is not the place to be asking advice for your grandmother whom I suspect you care about deeply. Seek the advice of a professional - call her doctor now.
Good Luck.

Symmetrical feet swelling in elderly people might be a sight of congestive heart failure. If she has a history with heart problems you might want to check it with a doctor

You didn't mention any health concerns. But on the safe side call the MD they can tell you if you need too come in or not. But for now put on a good lotion and prop those puppies up.
Good Luck. :-)

Has she been chekced for allergies? My MIL had the same trouble and she is allergic to the spice called MSG which is in almost everything. Have her checked by an allergist.
