I went to the computer shop today and got the ASUS P4V800D-X motherboard. I also went and got 2x 512MB DDR 400MHz Memory sticks. I had the processor which does work because I tested the Intel Celeron D 2.4GHz Processor on a friends computer and worked. The problem is when I connect all the leads in the motherboard (I know their correct) then to the psu then turn the power on the motherboard LED light on the motherboard does not turn on. I do have a power switch on the power supply unit (psu) and still the light does not turn on I think the problem is that the psu is not providing power to my motherboard I have tested 3 motherboards on this psu and every time they don't work even if they work on another psu. Is this likely to be the psu that is stopping my new computer from working? please help!!!

I had this problem too. For me, the problem was that I put the motherboard directly against the side of the case. The motherboard can sense this and will automatically shut down. Try testing your mobo when it is out of the case. If it does not work then, it is possible that your psu is defective.

I would check the Power Supply Unit's power cord (into the electrical outlet) and the power supply's cables into the board. I am not sure if you are using the same cord for each PSU. Then check to make sure your have ample powersupply (very rare). I doubt it has anything to do the board from the information but the failure is from the Power Outlet onto the power cables from PSU.

It seems it's either the PSU or the power cord, make sure you try another power cord before you replace the whole PSU.

You are so detailed telling the problem. But yet its as easy as 123
get volt tester and test the connectors like the ATX power connector on the motherboard.or a new psu would be good..
