i am in NORTHERN IRELAND ,bought a 6 tone /variable siren fitted it instead of horn hoping dumb/blind /deaf car drivers might take notice

A warning device (horn) on a road vehicle in the UK must be clearly audible, and of a single tone or no more than two different tones sounding simultaneously i.e. it must not alternate between different tones.

In other words, your horn is illegal...

Yah, I agree with the fellow above ... you can't emulate an emergency siren.
However, on my bike I replaced the stock BMW horns (which gave sort an anemic "meep" sound) with a dual-horn car setup from a Mercedes ... very "bell-like" and pleasant, but LOUD!. You should go to a car parts store and pick up a set.

There are laws (state by state), Vermont's law says that it must be a horn, not a bell, whistle, or siren. So, air horns and electric horns are OK.

If a horn plays a variety of tunes, it can avoid getting disturbing the peace tickets and possibly get paid for making good sounds......

I think it has to be below a certain decible, and Dixie Horns are banned!

different state different laws just call your local police department and ask they want mine.i work for a police department in Georgia and we get questions all the time.
