(a) move your blinking cursor to the end of the "Dear Sir" and press enter so everything else will go on a different line.

(b) then click at the end of the body of your letter to place the cursor there

(c) press enter to bring down to a new line, where you can put your thank you

Delete any empty lines before the Dear Sir, and also check the Paragraph > Before space setting for that line.

You should be able to put the cursor right after "Dear Sir," then press return to separate the lines.
