My finace and I are about to get married. I just graduated school and he's between jobs. Our family is scattered throughout the US and we want to move, but have no idea where we want to go. We have no attachements and no responsibilities to anyone besides ourselves and I'd love to take advantage of this time in our lives to find somewhere awesome to live, because we could virtually go anywhere. I love the coast but it's too expensive, and he wants to go to school so we need to be near a University. We've considered Tucson, AZ and Southern Cali, but we're not big City people. Any suggestions of places we should look into?

Maybe Austin Tx, it's a college town not too huge nor small. Known for entertainment and some low house prices if ever you decide to buy.The Gulf coast could provide your beach access, maybe 3 hours away, yet safe enough from any hurricanes as well in the central part ofthe country if your family ties are all over as you say..

Austin, Tx University of Texas, Capital City but small town feel. You can be downtown and 5-10 minutes later be in a rural area. Lakes, rivers streams and creeks everywhere, hill country and city life all rolled into one..

how about Iowa City IA, or even Fayetteville AR, both have Universities and both places have high paying jobs and it's not like living in the big city, or anywhere but TX...the wages here suck and the cost of living is so high that you would have to have two or more jobs per person in the house just to make it and not have to live paycheck to paycheck
