Hi, i have a boyfriend with the last name "Rugg". Around here that last name is associate with a lot of bad things, even though he and his immediate family are not at all bad. When we get married i really want to take his name and leave my old name (McCrory) behind, but i dont know if i should. Sometimes people with his last name get turned down for loans, jobs, etc. just because of their last name. I dont want to have that problem, but i really want to take his name. Should i write my name ____ (McCrory) Rugg instead of just putting Rugg? Do you think that would help? And what about our kids names? Please help!

Your question is an interesting one. Have you considered a hyphonated name...McCrory-Rugg? As far as your kids' names, I'd use dad's name of Rugg but be sure not to give them first names like Harry or Ima.

Just because you are married, doesn't mean that you can't still use your maiden name. If your married last name with effects major moves in your life, just use your maiden name. There is no law that states you can't use both. You will be ____ McCrory and _____Rugg. Either will work when applying for anything, they will just go by your social security number instead of a name.

If you're not engaged, don't worry about it....there's no guarantee that you will end up married. However, if you do end up married, I don't think it's legal for a bank to turn you down for a loan due to your name. It is based on your credit report, so maybe the ones that are turned down have bad credit.

i think i'd think a little harder about marrying him first of all, people learn what they live and if these are the kind of people he was raised around....anyway, what are they axe murderers? or are they people that say my uncle bill did something bad and now thats why i can't get anywhere in life oh poor me? small towns can be a stinker, move.

I think if you love this person enough to marry him in spite of what you know of his last name suggests in that town, then you should take his name. I'd be more than offended were I him if you did not.

you are able to no longer do this till the dad indicators permission. Why could you desire to in any case? changing the final call on your bf's does no longer mean he's now in charge for the baby or has to pay for it.

You must live in a very small town. I'd take his name (as you want) and move out of this town
