Are they electable now that they have "Dave" as their leader and there is not much clarity on policies. Anyone care to hug a hoodie?

the tories have always been electable, as are the liberal democrats, ukip and the monster raving loony party. all they need is either some credible policies or a major selling stratagem.

they don't have very many credible policies at the moment, but tony blair's increasingly prima-donnaish media flirting is at least making david cameron look like an honest man (no mean achievement). if our present prime minister - who has already announced that he will leave in plenty of time for his successor to manage a smooth change-over - continue to kid the electorate that labour is about hairstyles and sharp suits rather than economics and probity he could still inflict the kind of damage on his own party not seen since jim callaghan.

i don't choose whom i hug on the basis of what they wear.

NO. I think that is the word you need. He is not a Tory and until he accepts people after 9 years of this lot want real values will never win. He needs to commit to re negotiate Europe. Stop trying to pacify the PC mob with hug a hoodie week. Bring back hanging and borstal. I will probable have upset a few but I would vote for UKIP or BNP before New Labour or Daves dodgy army.

Dave has lived in a privileged world where hoodies do not pass! As John Major said on AM on BBC this morning, Cameron is trying to brand himself. It is so corporate. What happened to having convictions (not from crime) but a political/moral point of view!

Scary thing is that Blair's sink into corruption and sleaze will open the vote-gates to the Tories.

I think they are but these days, all the main parties have similar manifestos and depend on the leaders image. The Thatcher affect wil have worn off soon and people will vote Tory. Not like things will be different under any of the parties. Even Labour are right of centre these days. Where's the left wing gone?

I think Tony Blair probably managed to get himself a good hold on power for many years; the Tories are still suffering from a leadership crisis, not unlike the Liberals in Canada.
