I get aproached by Nichiren Buddhists, Nation of Islam, Fundie Christians, and a Wicca group meets next door. Maybe there's more like Jews and Maoris: which religion should I be and why?

Theoretically a religion that is based strictly on the Bible is probably your best bet. The Bible is practically the Encyclopaedia of Ancient History. If we do not believe in a holy scripture then we will probably have some kind of minimalist religion and say we believe in God and leave it at that.

But if the Bible is true, then we will come to the conclusion that the prophets wrote as God the Holy Spirit moved them (moved them in their hearts to know what to write from the store of their knowledge). And that would eliminate Islam where they say on the one hand they believe in the prophets but that on the other hand the Bible has been corrupted.

The law of the Old Testament is fulfilled in the New Testament by the work of the Messiah, so we no longer keep the new moons and the sacrifices.

Very quickly it becomes complicated so you need to seek to find if the Bible is the word of God or not as far as you believe.

There are generally 5 fields of Christianity, the Orthodox types, having an authority above the bible. The Protestant types, focusing on traditions of their respective churches (lessening focus on the Bible in my opinion), independent Christian groups (some focusing heavily on the Bible as the authority), Charasmatic groups (Bible warns about these groups, they are ministers of antichrist) and fringe groups who believe the Bible but also believe some other things which they add to their religion and authortiy.

Unfortunately good churches generally have gone apostate so Judgement day is very soon.

But pick a religion which has what is certain to be an authority from God, with nothing added and nothing taken away.

Religion is needed because people are sinners and we do not want to go to suffer in hell for eternity.

There are a couple of possible answers.

First, for most of human history, religion has been about belonging to a community. Which people do you actually like being around? Finding people with similar interests and aims as yourself may help you discover which religion you should join. Maybe you have a burning desire for social justice, so membership In a liberal protestant or Roman Catholic church might be in order. Or maybe you think it is important to "spread the word" to others, So membership in the Jehovah's Witnesses or the Mormons may be up your alley.

The second thing to consider is, what do you think matters in religious observance? Do you want to have dietary rules to follow, or rules regarding what you should/should not wear? Is going to a place of worship regularly important? What about giving to charity? Fasting and pilgrimage are also things that need to be considered. In short, will you be able to live your religion fully, or will you find some aspects of it difficult or impossible. There is little point becoming a Jew or Muslim if you can;t get by without your morning bacon, for example.

Good luck in your search.

It depends on you, Life or Death everlasting.
I was once confused as you when I was younger. Later I found that Christian belief was the best. Why? Because he teaches you to live life to its fullest in a descent way. Not be filled with hate or remorse or even greed and lust of the heart. All of which cause pain to others and your self. No one truly enjoys hurting all the time.
This life only offers about 80 years and what you make of it is what you will receive in the after life. Most of the world believes in the after life in some form or fashion.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) What possible gain did this God in flesh have by lying? It was not the way of Hebrews peoples at that time of man. Aim to be perfect as you were created to be. It’s a hard way to path but not impossible. Only Good can come from good. Is that not worth it?

I am Atheist, although I don't think you should be asking people you know let alone some you don't a question like that. Maybe you should kind of search around attend meetings, services, talk to the Witnesses that solicit it to your door (definitely tell them not to come back again unless you are interested in that one). This is something that I did before I decided what I should believe in or not believe in. Whatever your decision I wish you good luck.

Find out about the Universal ( Catholic ) Church it all traces back to the time or Jesus and his favourite apostle Peter . Before the reformation in England ( When Henry the 8th broke away from Rome because the Pope would not let him keep trying to have a male heir with all his wives 6 in the end ) there was onlt the catholic church .

You should be the religion that feels right. No one can make that decision for you, just like no one can state what is the "right" religion. If you are the best person you can be, treat others with respect and follow your heart, is a specific religion necessary? Read samplings from all different areas, then decide.

Ask yourself, are you a truth seeker or do you just want to conform? If you just want to conform go to the group that is most popular in your area. Me I decided not to have a religion. Religion is important to put people in line but I tried all of them and realized no religion is the absolute truth. Religions are made and 'defined' mostly due to the 'cultural landscape' of where it came from. I sometimes attend Theosophical Society meetings - they are neutral to all religions. What is more important is to be a spiritual person than to have a religion.

Spirituality is a personal expression of a relationship to higher being. No one can decide this for you. I would suggest checking around and reading until you find a religion that suits your innate belief system..there are many paths to the same goal. I don't adhere to one religion, but choose to be an eclectic pagan. Just be wary of anyone who tells you it's their way or no way.

depends on your belifs. Do some online researxhing and check out what they actually believe. Narrow down your list and attend various services, keep track of what you like and don't like. Keep in mind how you feel when you attend as well. Part of religion is your connection that you get to a higher being or enlightened feeling. Good luck
