I have been thinking about this question for all this time and here is what I have come up with:
Being a positive thinker is a state of mind, and it is easiest when it comes by instinct. To help this come along more naturally you must consciously retrain your negative thought patterns to positive ones. There are 2 ways that I know of to do that.
The first way is to carefully pay attention to your thoughts and when you notice a negative one you must correct it immediately. You think "I have no patience", you must stop and say "No. I do have patience - more everyday". You think "It will never work out" and you stop and say "NO. There is no reason why this shouldn't go my way". Every thought, every time. After the first week or so you will see a difference. This method works like teaching a child or training a dog. The more consistent you are the more successful you will be in learning the new behavior.
The second way it to simply visualize. Sit quietly for 3-5 mins at a time and imagine yourself as a hopeful, optimistic person, with a very positive attitude. Imagine how your life will be, now that you are a hopeful optimistic person - see all the folks around you enjoying your company and loving your positive outlook on life. Imagine yourself receiving everything you've always wanted now that you have a positive attitude - and feel yourself being happy and peaceful. This way is very powerful and you could see results in as little as 3 days, if you practice faithfully. We are talking 3-5 mins 2 or 3 times a day (when you go to bed, wake up and riding the bus, say). The more often and the more vividly you can see and feel this new way of being, the faster it will come for you.
Doing both of these will work the best, of course. Good Luck!
Peace!

1. Enjoy the nice moments that pass by u as long as possible even if they are trivial things & keep on repeating them in yr mind.
2. Stop saying bad things to yr self in your mind eg.don't say that u r unlucky or that u'll never improve & such negative ideas. Instead tell yourself repeatedly things you'd love to hear even if u don't believe are true , they'll become true eventually.
3.Convince yourself that whatever bad incidences in your life won't last & will be over because nothing really lasts.
4. Don't be around ppl who blame, discourage , judge , ridicule you or make u feel bad about yourself.
5. Eat well , sleep well, dress well , exercise , play very well. Living your life well is one of the main reasons that help u stay positive.
6. Believe that God is always there for u & that he loves u like no one on earth no matter what .
It's mainly a mind game if u keep yourself bussy with ideas that lift u up & please u you'll become a postive thinker.
If u like reading books the next books will be a great help for u:
Success through a positive mental attitude by Napoleon Hill & any book by Anthony Robins

Philippians 4:5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
