They do block out UV. But UV is a whole broad spectrum of wavelengths of light. Some people classify them as UV "A" and UV "B". What you want is a sunblock that works most effectively on the broadest range of wavelengths. That way you're preventing the rays that cause mutations in the DNA in your skin cells and you're also preventing sunburn. Read labels and compare.

Sunblocks do block out most of the uvb rays, which are the rays responsible for burning. An spf of 15 will block out about 90% of uvb rays and an spf of 30 will block out 97% of uvb rays, but no sunblock can block out 100% of the uvb rays. HTH.

Yes it does but there are different levels and some do not block out as much as others. Have a good one:-)

if they are made from glass yes they block uv

It does, but it has to be applied frequently. Same with sunscreen.
