Why would you use a tampon while ttc? If anything, that's going to hinder the process.

I always have prefered pads, but after reading about tampons in my book on TTC I would have made the switch if I had been using them. Apparently all feminine care products contain a chemical by-product called dioxin. Studies have shown a link between dioxin and cancer, endometriosis, and even infertility in both males and females. Since a tampon comes in such close contact with a woman's mucus, this could spell trouble. The author recommends using products made from organic cotton and says if that's not possible to "restrict tampon use to only the first day or two of your menstrual period, then switch to pads" and "try to use tampons only during the day and use a pad at night". After doing research on the web I learned that there are many more sources of dioxin and am making steps to try and avoid them.

I agree with the previous poster that tampons can affect fertility. I just wanted to add that the tiny fibers in the tampons have been known to cause blockages in the fallopian tubes.

Tampon use shouldn't effect anything since you are using tampons during your period.

The only time a tampon would impede conception is if you used one right after intercourse.
