yes and especially when they are fat and they have loads of fat food, I can't help think that someone ought to educate this person. Or a masive family loading up the trolley with convenience foods, what a waste of money. Get a big pot and make a stew.

I look at other people's purchases and it's fascinating. First of all, people tend to buy a lot of alcohol and junk food. If that's all they eat I would hate to be them. Second, you can sometimes tell what people are going to cook, or do. Like if they're having a backyard barbecue. You can see how organized they are, how they plan ahead. Someone who buys a single sponge or roll of toilet paper, something like that, is probably living on the edge.
You want to be discrete about staring, though, because it's a little rude, like looking too hard into their car window. But sometimes it's fun to get into a harmless chat with the people around you and the grocery clerk.

I always look at what other people are buying and wonder what they are going to do with them when they get home. It's often the men who have the weirdest combinations.
So far I have resisted the temptation to take packets of condoms from the shelf and to slip one in each full trolley when the owner isn't looking. It would be great to video their reactions when they get to the checkout and I wonder how many would be too embarrased to say anything - or simply not notice that they were there.

I tend to look and think oh that looks interesting I will have to try that next time, leave the shop and forget about it. Saw someone buy 20 bags of ice one time thought that was strange as it was in November in England.

yes I do... and I always wonder bout the people who buy maybe 15 loaves of economy bread and 20 bottles of bleach. Are they owners of a b and b or an old folks home?
passes the time anyway.

i once saw somebody buy a rope, a shovel and some duct tape, and a lollypop. and then they paid from a bag marked 'loot'. they were wearing a black eye mask and had stubble and a shaved head. and they had a white and black striped jumper on. and when i walked by their van in the parking lot, there was a lot of screaming and shouting. bloody french!

I thought it was just me. I get bored easily. I usually try to guess what they're going to cook with 10 tins cat food, loaf bread, sausages and a puzzle magazine.

Yep, you can tell who is single because of small portions and frozen food, you can tell who is on public assistance because they are getting cheese and milk. You can tell who the possible alcoholics are. You can tell the class of worker by the quality of the beer they are buying.
