Alien.
See the book The Killing Star, by Charles Pellegrino.

He makes a very good case for why aliens would send relativistic missiles to wipe out life on Earth.

Neither. Because if I really encounter any, I will immediately know it must be a trick. I am confident that both are the outcome of hallucination. A ghost is by definition a mental apprehension - some sort of cracked mental image drawn by fear on the retina of a feeble heart. Ghosts resemble the Dead - and that what scares the living, the idea of death has become so fearful to the mind and soul that man has almost given it an identity and a body - smart idiots think, by giving it an ethereal body or fog-like physique, they would answer to why we cannot touch it. Silly.
Aliens are not very much different from ghosts in the sense that they are man-made illusions of imaginary apprehension that started to gain a form and shape similar to ghosts due to too many roomers and talk about the possibility of life existing somewhere else in the universe, other than our planet. Which could be true, but the moment a real creature from the outer space comes down to earth, every single person on earth will know. It's a pity that man is still undeveloped internally compared to his external engineering wonders and technology: the childish mixing between reality and illusion still haunts him.

Alien for sure. Lets suppose that ghosts exist. First off, they are formerly humans and, therefore have some connection to the human race. If we consider true the imaginary created around ghost. they might have unfinished business here, simply haven't come to terms with their situation or might even be protecting a loved one. No matter which is the case, we can be sure that, if they do exist, they do not pose a widespread threat tu human kind - or else we would already be suffering it.

Aliens, on the other hand, would have traveled a long distance to be here and would have a reason for haven done so. These reasons might be totally peaceful, but it must be considered that we do not share anything in common with them. So it might be similar to the encounter of men and so many other species.

I would definitely be more afraid of an alien encounter. From what I've read from so-called experts in the paranormal, ghosts are not physical forms, and so, they could not hurt me physically, just mentally if I allowed it.

Aliens, on the other hand, could be anything. There's just way too many possiblities of what they're tempermant, behavior and appearance could be; and this makes it difficult to feel prepared for an alien encounter.

I feel much more prepared to handle a ghost if I ever encountered one.

Probably an alien.
Ghosts are more familiar in a lot of ways, and more accepted as something likely to be encountered. They are also usually presented as more benign; except for poltergeists, they just sort of show up, hang around, maybe move things.

Aliens however, we keep guessing; no one knows anything about them really (although some claim to have encountered some), and that unpredictable factor is more scary.

In my personal opinion, I would have to say an encounter with a ghost - even though I think the experience would be very interesting, too! There's something about death that everyone fears, maybe from basic instinct... ghosts provide that fear, too (maybe because of their relation to death).

Neither should be frightening, but I'm more interested in meeting a true alien than a ghost.

I'd say a ghost - can't exactly explain or touch a ghost, and that would scare me more I think...
