Are there "under the raod" truckers? Where else would they be but "over" the raod?

Hmmm...I do know that sometimes there are news reports of "over the bridge" or "over the car" trucks. And come to think of it I do recall one story of a dramatically overloaded truck that did in fact drive "in the road"! So I suppose that calling responsible truckers "over the road" is in fact a good thing.

HEY!! I found an "in the overpass trucker"! Does that count as "under the road"?

Over the Road "OTR" trucking is the industry term to describe those who don't return home after the end of their shifts. OTR truckers are those that run for days, weeks, or even months without returning home. For many of these drivers, their home IS their truck.

As for why is the term Over The Road used, why not? The freight is transported over highways, as opposed to by plane or train.
